What a lovely little dolly! What an inspiration to piety and allround Niceness! The spectre of the Infant of Prague serves to remind us that pre Vatican II frou-frou was as vile in its own way as the iconoclasm that followed it.
Looking upon such a delightful expression of debased piety one can almost understand the iconoclasm of the seventies and eighties. But then again, this sought of reactionary devotion is fun to observe in others. It is good to see that the CYS are truly doing a service to the needs of the Catholic Youth.
Because it's a blog. No-one would read it otherwise! I watch my stats counter skyrocket everytime I post something remotely controversial. My average is about 50-60 perday but at times like this it generally sits at about 80-100.
Catholics have different opinions on Church-related beauty just as artists have opinion on different forms of art, same as people argue over which football teams plays the best brand of football...
I wasn't being bitchy? All my post said was to look at the pictures! In a sense it was calling for opinions.
Can you imagine for the sake of virtue Ron Boswell telling Stott-Despoja nicely that 'sure, let's not argue about the abortion bill for the sake of keeping the peace'?
And anyway, I am the Indolent Server when I post on this blog!
Question. Are you putting artistic taste in the same category as abortion???? Mate, you totally missed the point of what Liz was saying.
It is not being bitchy when someone claims that a sewer stinks, the same principle applies to art, some things are a matter of taste, others are down right ugly and therefore not art (since art is something which is beautiful and uplifting).

I still love the infant'f Prague
even if it makes me pewk!
I know, how fun it is! And it didn't really need me to fuel the flames!
I think it is amazing that there was a statue of the infant of Prauge at all. What disturbed me was that the walls in the chapel were plastered with guitar chords and that the confessional was being used as a cupboard for guitars and amps. There is definately not enough ermine in this world- but I feel like that thing is like 'son of chucky' or something
Of course elderly relative! Erine for the cappa magna would be nice- they still use it in the holy sepulcher, and the pope brought out the ermine lined mozetta and camino as well. I found the statue quite weird- but I did amuse myself by putting a tebernacle veil on the tabernacle there- I wonder if they have removed it yet.
And yes, these comments about bitchiness etc are a bit off- its just pure opinion exchange that you would get anywhere among like minded people (it does, however, have a particularly masculine way to it- which i enjoy), there is no substitute for charitable frankness.
oh yes. i too have worn ermine on a few occasions, in fact i think a photo of it appeared on this blog not to long ago
